About Life & Cats

Your go-to resource for everything feline

Mission Statement

Our mission at Life & Cats is to inspire cat guardians to give their feline friends the best life possible.

I believe that cats are misunderstood. Felines are not solitary, aloofm animals that make a low maintenance alternative if you can’t have a dog.

In fact, cats are sensitive, unique, animals who love their people just as much as dogs do. They are just more subtle in how they communicate it. We cat people have to work harder to read them. But when we do we can build a special bond with our furbabies that will enrich our lives – and theirs – forever.

From Pet Retail to Cat Specialist

After spending 7 years in pet retail management I was ready to move on to something else. I realized the best part of my days was helping cat guardians solve problems and improve their cats’ lives. I leaned into my feline focus and became a cat exclusive groomer, professional cat sitter, and behavior consultant. I started this blog in 2018 to continue to use my experiences to help cat lovers care for their feline friends.

About HollyAnne

Lifelong Cat Lover

My mother insists my connection with cats began at birth. She tells a story of taking me camping when I was just a baby and coming out of the tent to find me on my blanket being visited by a young bobcat. The first cat I remember is a fluffy, blue and white, feral kitten that crawled out of my parents’ compost bin and into my heart when I was a preschooler.

Since then I have lived with cats for over 50 years. I have raised kittens, cared for geriatric cats, and everything in between. My feline friends include both rescue cats and pedigreed breed cats. I travel the cat show circuit. Each cat I have shared life with has inspired me to learn more about cats and their behavior, health, grooming, and enrichment needs. I’ve seen the way we can make a difference in our cats’ lives when we focus on making their needs a priority and forming a true relationship with them. I want every cat to experience that.

Our Beliefs

We Believe Cats Are More Than Pets

01

We Believe Cats are Not Small Dogs.

Our cats have distinct biology, health needs, instincts and behaviors, and require different handling. Interacting with a cat the way you would with small dogs leads to improper care, stress and strain on our relationship with our cats.

02

We Believe There’s No Such Thing as “Just a Cat”

Our cats are family. Each with his or her own complex personality and unique needs. Our cats provide companionship just like any other family member and when we lose them the loss is just as deep.

03

We Believe Cats Can Do More Than You Think

Cats aren’t just couch potatoes. They are highly trainable and capable animals. Adventure cats, show cats, agility cats, therapy cats, and traveling cats all can inspire us to enrich our own cats’ lives.

04

Keeping our cats indoors unless supervised is better for the cats, better for local wildlife, and better for relationships with your neighbors. Indoor cats are safer, healthier, and live longer lives.

05

We Believe All Cats are Special

We celebrate both pedigreed breed cats and our domestics. Our content and community is breeder and rescue friendly. No judgement on where you choose to get your cats. We support early spay/neuter unless you are a preservation breeder of a recognized breed.
