9 Best Subscription Boxes for Cats – and One for You Too
Last Updated on May 24, 2021 by Holly Anne Dustin
Doesn’t your cat deserves a little more fun? A subscription box for cats can be fun for you both. Who doesn’t like to get gifts in the mail? New toys and treats give Kitty something new to explore. Look for a box that will offer variety to keep his toy box fresh.
Subscription boxes give you and your kitty a chance to be surprised with unique treats and toys. Some even add in cat themed gifts for you. Choose a box that has something a bit different in what they bring to the market. We even found one for you.
Be sure the box you select offers value for your cat. Check the cancellation policies before you subscribe. Most are auto-renew unless you cancel by a certain date. Some you can easily cancel by logging in to your account and clicking a couple buttons. Some you have to email to cancel. Variety is good. I found we got bored if we just got the same box month-after-month.

Kitnip Box
The Kitnip Box is the granddaddy of all cat subscription boxes. When you think of subscriptions boxes this probably is the one you think of first. The Kitnip Box offers a themed selection of high-quality cat toys, all-natural treats, and fun, healthy cat products.
The standard KitNip Box contains 5 items for $19.99/month. The Multi-Cat KitNipBox is $29.99/month and has 7 articles. They offer a no treat option if your furbaby has dietary restrictions.
According to their website, Kitnip Box thoroughly screens their products and vets suppliers with a focus on safety. I subscribed for quite a while, and it was fun to get a box every month. But after a while it got repetitive. Treats, 3-4 toys on a cute, fun theme, and a wand toy. I didn’t like their wand toys. The wands are too short to protect your hands from kitty claws. Their toys weren’t stuff you would see in the average pet store though.
One cool feature Kitnip Box offers is a referral program. I don’t think any other subscription box offers anything like it. When someone subscribes to KitNipBox with your referral link, you save 15% off your next KitNipBox. The person you refer also gets 15% off their first box.
Meow Box
Another popular subscription box for cats is Meowbox. Kitty will get 5-6 toys and treats for $22.95 every month, or every other month if you choose. Meowbox operates out of Canada.
One perk of Meowbox is that they work hard to support small businesses. They include at least one toy that is made locally created, handmade or small batch products. So you do get unique items that you don’t get anywhere else. All the treats are US or Canadian made. Again some are made special for Meowbox.
We really enjoyed getting a Meowbox subscription. The themes were fun and it didn’t feel repetitive. The boxes are even hand addressed to your cat. And they are a good size for normal cats to sit in. (They won’t fit a fat or large breed cat but they’ll probably sit in them anyway.)
Catnipporium
This might be the subscription box for you if your feline friend is really into catnip. This subscription box for cats is an extension of the founder’s Etsy shop. Your kitty’s subscription will get her a theme collection of catnip pillows.
The large box comes with 5 catnip pillows, BIG kicker, and a special handmade or special surprise toy or treat for $18/month. The small box costs $5 a month for 2 pillows.
Crazy Cat Crates
Crazy Cat Crates looks for unique items to include in their subscription box for cats. They source from independent shops and prioritize products made in the USA.
Each box includes 5 products including things like toys, food and water dishes, collars and brushes. They also include a card with cat care tips. The cost for a Crazy Cat Crate subscription is 39.99.

Pet Clever
The Pet Clever subscription box offers two options. The regular box has 4-5 cat toys, and other items for $25.99 each month. The deluxe box contains 6-7 items. The deluxe subscription will run you $30.99.
Most of the toys and products are pretty standard stuff you can get anywhere. They do include items like treat balls and grooming tools instead of just the catnip and “thing on a string” type toys other boxes include.
Paws and Claws Kit
The Paws and Claws subscription box for cats costs 29.99. Paws and Claws includes cat food, treats, and toys. The products are high quality products you can get in most higher end pet stores. They include a gift for you too. Mugs, novelty socks, funny poop scoops.
And possibly the best part: they line the bottom of their shipping box with sisal mats! It’s like a bonus scratcher in a box. What cat could resist?
Willie and Roo
Willie and Roo is a highly customized subscription box for your cat. You fill out a survey about your furbaby when you sign up. Based on the age and any allergies or health concerns of your cat, Willie and Roo will send you a selection of healthy treats, enriching toys, educational materials and a gift for you too.
Because they include health supplements that take time to work, Willie and Roo requires a 3 month minimum commitment.

VetPet Box
Another unique box focused on health is the VetPet Box. The items Kitty receives in her VetPet Box are selected by veterinarians for quality and safety. Each box includes at least 2 toys, treats, accessories, and healthcare items like supplements or grooming supplies.
You can customize your box by life stage, allergies, and some special needs like blindness or anxiety. They also provide healthcare tips and care information. A small box for a single cat family starts at $35 a month. A multicat family can join in the fun for $41 a month.
Pet Treater
The Pet Treater box offers a multicat box for $25 that includes 5-8 items. A small box of 3-4 item goes for $15 and is perfect for a single cat. They strive to keep the boxes fun. Contents can range from treats, toys, accessories and grooming supplies. None of the edible products come from China.
Chewy Gift Boxes for Cats
Chewy is a newer entry to the cat gift box market but a leader in cat products. Unlike a subscription box, this is a one time purchase. Buy a birthday theme box. Pick a holiday box or order a gift for a friends new kitten.
These boxes include three delicious full-size treats for them to try, two super fun catnip toys, along with a cat tracks toy with balls to bat and a teaser toy to bite and claw.
I hope you enjoy trying out some of these subscription boxes for cats. Do you subscribe to any other boxes? Which one is your kitty’s favorite?
Bonus: Cat Lady Box
We wouldn’t want you to miss out. The CatLadyBox will let you show your cat lady status like a badge of honor. Every month you get great cat themed items. Shirts, jewelry, and home decor. Your cat even gets a couple toys if you opt for the larger box.
The basic is $34.99, the crazy adds the cat toys and costs $39.99. If you don’t want treats, opt for “no food” at checkout and get an extra toy instead.
