Cats Dominate the World One Heart at a Time

Last Updated on May 10, 2021 by Holly Anne Dustin

Cat World Domination Day began as a birthday party for Sparkle, the original blogger at Sparklecat.com. Though Sparkle has since passed on, Cat World Domination Day still recognizes the passion of cat lovers everywhere.

Today we look at the many ways our furry little friends have wrapped us around their little paws.

  • Cats chose us to be their minions.  They, in effect, domesticated themselves when they chose to move into the grain storage areas 9,000 years or so. They developed a symbiotic relationship with humans that continues to this day.
  • Their cute, furry little faces and big baby eyes triggers a protective response in us.
  • Cats’ meows sound similar to the cries of a human baby. Adult cats don’t meow to communicate with each other. Their communication is more non-verbal and behavioral. They have learned to use their voice to control us, to get us to feed them, play with them, and give them a place to live.  And we love it.
  • Their soft fur is soothing and their purrs are healing to humans.
  • Their goofy behavior keeps us entertained.
  • Cats choose to love us. The relationship between cats and their humans is not unlike a friendship between equals.

What would your cat do if she was planning on world domination? I’m pretty sure my kitties demands for themselves would include:

After you throw your cat a nip party and give him extra admiration and playtime, how can you celebrate cats today on Cat World Domination Day 2019?

  • visit a cat cafe or shelter and play with kitties waiting for adoption
  • Donate money or supplies to your favorite rescue
  • Volunteer for a cat rescue
  • Adopt or foster a cat

Click on the link to join the party on Sparklecat.com.  I hear rumors that there’s a great giveaway going on too.
