Tiny Tiger Cat Food Review: Good Nutrition on a Budget
Last Updated on May 10, 2021 by Holly Anne Dustin
I received a box of Tiny Tiger cat food from Chewy.com in exchange for my cats’ honest opinion and an honest review. No cash compensation was received. I will only share products that I believe will be relevant to the cat loving community with our honest opinion. The opinions shared are mine and my cats’ alone.
My cats tried out a new cat food from Chewy. Tiny Tiger is a cat food brand that is exclusive to Chewy. It provides a lot of variety in flavor and texture. Tiny Tiger comes in 6 flavors: Beef, Chicken, Turkey, Salmon, Tuna, and Seafood. Each is available in pate, chunks and gravy, and chunks in extra gravy. We tried the beef and poultry chunks in extra gravy variety pack.
The 24 pack of 3 oz cans gave us 8 each of beef, chicken, and turkey. At the time of this review, the pack retails for 12.99 or about $.55 a can. You can get your first box at 50% off.
Allergens

If your cat has allergies, it is important to know that this is not a single-source protein product. The chicken flavor includes turkey further down the label. The turkey flavor includes chicken. The beef flavor also includes poultry and salmon. All three flavors included dried egg product. Eggs are a good source of protein for cats and can help some cats deal with hairballs.
All three flavors are grain-free. They contain no wheat, corn, or soy. Impressively, for a relatively budget food, all Tiny Tiger formulas are carrageenan free. The product contains guar gum and potato starch as thickeners. Some cats get digestive distress from gums and potatoes. Mine aren’t bothered at all but it is something to consider if yours have allergies or sensitivities.
By-Products
The biggest problem I have with the ingredient panel on the label is the inclusion of “meat by-products.” By-products are not necessarily a bad ingredient. AAFCO defines by-products as “secondary products produced in addition to the principal product.” It includes things like brains, livers, hearts, spleens, bones and blood from cattle, pigs, sheep or goats. We don‘t eat them, but they still have good nutrient values for your kitty. Cats will happily chow down on organs. When they catch prey outside cats eat the whole animal. Organs are a normal part of a cat’s natural diet.
Premium cat food manufacturers have moved toward labeling specific ingredients. You are more likely to see beef liver or chicken heart instead of “meat by-products.” Even “turkey by-products” is more descriptive than a generic mystery meat labeling. This food is not a great option for cats with any sensitivities.

Tiny Tiger: Good and Balanced
This food is a high protein, low carb, moderate fat cat food that includes all the essential nutrients including taurine, vitamins, minerals and omega-3 fatty acids. If your cat doesn‘t have food sensitivities Tiny Tiger is a great addition to the marketplace at a nice, budget-friendly price. The high protein, moderate fat, low carbohydrate formula is a solid, balanced diet for cats. The fact that it is a moist food adds the hydration that cats need.
The chunks with extra gravy version we tried has the typical cat food meaty chunks as opposed to a shredded texture. It has a nice, broth-style gravy as opposed to a jelly.
Tiny Tiger is an all life stages approved food. You can feed it to your new kitten or senior cat just as successfully as to your adult cat. This makes Tiny Tiger a great option for multi-cat families.

My cats aren’t particularly picky, but they all loved Tiny Tiger. If I had a smaller furry family, or if Tiny Tiger came in bigger cans, I’d probably buy it to keep around for my “I didn’t thaw dinner in time” nights. It makes a great option for me to take along for something special when Plush and I hit the road for a trip. Thank you Chewy for the opportunity to try out a new food option. My cats appreciate the treat.
